Elections board closed Wednesday

The Clinton County Board of Elections will be closed Wednesday, June 21, 2017 to attend the Ohio Secretary of State’s Summer Conference. They will re-open on Thursday, June 22 at the regular time of 8:30 a.m.

Sports, art camp at Elevation

The free Ekids Sports and Art Camp for kids in kindergarten through fifth grade (those who just completed fifth grade are welcome to attend) will be June 26-30 from 6-8:30 p.m. at Elevation Community Church in Blanchester.

Kids will enjoy a full week of fun, including appearances from Daniel Gil and Michelle Warnky of American Ninja Warrior, and local hero Josh Sams. Friday, June 30 at 6 p.m. there will be a family fun night.

Locals earn UD degrees, dean’s list

Jessica Bond of New Vienna and Leland Merling of Wilmington received bachelor’s degrees during the spring 2017 commencement ceremony at the University of Dayton.

Both also made the spring dean’s list, as did Marlena Merling of Wilmington.

Two earn Shawnee diplomas

Two Blanchester residents received diplomas during spring commencement May 6 at Shawnee State University in Portsmouth, Ohio: Margaret Jane Chamberlain, Bachelor of Individualized Studies, Individualized Studies, cum laude graduate; and Elaina Frances Patton, Associate of Applied Science, Medical Laboratory Technology.

Capital bestows honors

Three area residents earned a place on the provost’s list for the spring 2017 semester at Capital University in Bexley, Ohio: Christopher Dooley of Wilmington, Justin Huff of Sabina and Trevin Simmons of Lynchburg.

Named to the dean’s list were Sarah Fryman and Scott Liermann, both of Wilmington.
