WILMINGTON — A zombie walk to benefit the Clinton County Community Action food pantry will be held on Saturday evening, July 15 in downtown Wilmington.

To take part in the costumed zombie walk, a person needs to donate $5 or five cans of food. This walk of the undead will begin about 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Xidas Park at the corner of South South and West Sugartree Streets next to the Escape bar. The Escape will host an outdoor live music act after the zombie walk event.

In addition to the walk itself, the 5 to 9 p.m. zombie event includes fun trophies awarded at 8:30 p.m. for the best-dressed zombies, a food truck, related music from Chazziz DJ Service, a 50/50 drawing and a silent auction. Registration for the walk is from 5 to 7 p.m.

In conjunction with the charity event, those dressed as zombies can go to a 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. concert at the Escape by the regional band APT. B without paying a $5 cover charge. The group plays classic rock from the 1970s, ’80s and ’90s.

APT. B will be the fourth live act to perform on the Escape’s new outdoor stage venue, which is adjacent to Xidas Park.

If someone wants to donate to the food pantry but can’t attend the zombie walk, he or she can drop off cans of food at Xidas Park between 5 and 9 p.m. Saturday.
