SABINA — It’s called Family Fun Days when the town of Sabina comes alive on Friday, Aug. 4 through Sunday, Aug. 6 with a variety of events aimed to please adults and children of all ages.

To kick things off on Aug. 4, the Sabina Municipal Pool will hold a free pool party from 6 to 9 p.m. Hot dogs and soft drinks will be provided at no charge.

“Come cool off, hang out and enjoy the evening. If you have never been there, now is your chance to check it out free,” said Sabina Councilman Jim Mongold, an organizer for Family Fun Days.

The pool is located at 437 S. Jackson St. in Sabina.

Then bright and early on Saturday morning Aug. 5, people can make their way to Pennant Moldings for its annual event “Barney’s Powder Blast”. This is a 5K walk/run starting in the Pennant Moldings parking lot, winding through Sabina and back. During the event, participants will be “blasted” with multiple colors of powder.

“If you like 5Ks filled with safe outrageous fun, this one is for you,” Mongold said. Registration will start 8 a.m. Aug. 5 with the running and walking beginning at 9 a.m. Pennant Moldings is located at 12381 Routes 22 and 3, Sabina.

Participants of Barney’s Powder Blast and others can stick around for Family Fun Night on Saturday evening Aug. 5. There will be music, games, food, vendors and bouncy houses.

The event starts at 4 and runs to 9 p.m. For $3, a child can enjoy 10 games and receive an admission band for the bouncy houses.

There will be ice cream at the Sabina Masonic Lodge 324.

Wrapping up the weekend, the 22nd annual Sabina Park Car Show starts Sunday morning, Aug. 6 at 10 a.m. and motors on to 3 p.m. It’s open to anything on wheels. There’s a $10 fee to register vehicles, with recognition for the Top 30 and special awards.

The Masonic Lodge will be on hand at the car show with food for a reasonable price, Mongold said. Chazziz DJ Service will provide music.

There is no admission cost to the car show for the spectators. There will be a 50/50 drawing.

The car show takes place at the Sabina Park on Kenyon Drive, at the corner of Rose Avenue and Eden Avenue, next to the water tower.

“We are having three days of fun in Sabina and this is your invitation — R.S.V.P. not required. These events are open to everyone from everywhere,” said Mongold.
