Main Street affected by Murphy work

The City of Wilmington announced there will be a construction zone directly in front of the Murphy Theatre effective Thursday, Aug. 3 for a period about a month.

The work zone is due to major renovation of the façade of the Murphy Theatre at 50 W. Main St.

During the construction, two parking spaces will be closed, and there may be intermittent narrowing of the right lane of West Main Street in front of the Murphy Theatre. Traffic control measures and signage will be in place to divert traffic as needed.

Truck traffic is strongly encouraged to utilize the 73 Bypass to avoid travel through the downtown area during this time.

The City of Wilmington asks that all motorists be patient, reduce speed, and exercise added caution when traveling near this work zone. Questions regarding the construction zone may be made to the Office of the Director of Public Service/Public Safety at 937-382-6509.
