Garden club recognizes beauty

The Wilmington Garden Club has awarded two certificates of beautification for 2017. The Residential Landscaping Award was given to George Bush of 1218 Warren Drive. He has made many improvements to his home over the years, most recently the window boxes all adorned in red and white with Begonias, Impatiens and Sweet Potato Vine. The view from the back porch is just as stunning as the front, filled with perennials such as pink Phlox and Hydrangea. The Community Landscape Award was given to Wilmington Lutheran Mission Church at 757 W. Main St. Church members have lovingly created a memorial garden behind the church. The garden consists of a mix of shrubs, annuals and perennials. In the center of the garden is an angel statue. White lilies and pink zinnias add peace and beauty to this very special memorial garden.
