Wilmington Kiwanis Making the Cut

The Wilmington Kiwanis Club and Making the Cut beauty salon recently joined efforts to help students prepare for another year.

Making the Cut donated free haircuts and students were given a colorful pouch with needed school supplies, donated by the Kiwanis Club along with Wilmington Dental Arts which donated oral hygiene items. Both the club and the salon were happy to help students begin their year with a new look and needed items.

At our Thursday, Aug. 17 Kiwanis Club meeting, we had Dr. Nihad Al-Assaad, Director of the Cardiac Catherization Lab at Clinton Memorial Hospital, talking about the new program that will be coming in the fall at CMH.

Olivia Minney, a Wilmington High School senior and Wilmington High School Key Club member, spoke to members about her summer experience at Buckeye Girls State at the University of Mount Union.

Kiwanis is an international organization that’s been helping children both locally and worldwide for over 100 years. The club meets the first and third Thursday at the Wilmington Presbyterian Church. For more information contact club treasurer Ron Johnson at 937-289-7726.
