Brainstorming Oct. 10 on skate park design

WILMINGTON — A brainstorming session will be held to learn the preferred features for a new concrete skate park in the city.

The skate park design meeting is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 10 in the community room on the first floor of Wilmington City Hall.

Everyone interested in participating — “young and old, experienced and new to skateboarding” — are invited to come to the meeting, said Wilmington Parks and Recreation Director Lori Kersey Williams.

Attendees are asked to bring any sketches, photographs, lists or experiences they have to share with the group, Williams said.

“We want to get this right,” parks staff agrees.

Parks staff will facilitate the brainstorming session, Williams added.

A skate park and splash park will be co-located in the David R. Williams Memorial Park, accessible from Fife Avenue, the News Journal previously reported.
