WILMINGTON — Clinton County residents will have a chance to enjoy three of America’s pastimes at once – football, a chili competition and politics.

The Clinton County Tea Party announced it will host Buckeye Chiligate, a pre-election party and chili competition, at 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17. There will be food, football and fiesta with local candidates.

The Tea Party wants local residents to have the opportunity to meet candidates before the Nov. 3 general election and hopes the festivities will encourage turnout and socializing.

Brausch Brewery at 1030 S. South St. in Wilmington will provide the venue, according to the Tea Party.

The Tea Party said all contested city council and judge candidates have been invited as well as other candidates from the county and state.

The event is free and open to the public to listen, eat chili and meet the candidates.

Afterward, the Ohio State vs. Penn State game will be begin at 8 p.m.

Brausch Brewery will sell their local beers for those of age and non-alcoholic beverages will also be available.

Anyone who brings chili can enter into the friendly chili election contest, the Tea Party said. Candidates are also encouraged to enter.
