WILMINGTON — All Wilmington Fire Department apparatus will be on display during a Wednesday evening, Oct. 11 open house being held in connection with Fire Prevention Week.

The event, which is oriented toward children and families, will be held at Fire Station No. 1, located at 46 East Sugartree Street in the downtown. The block of East Sugartree Street in front of the fire station will be shut off for the four hours of the open house from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.

Among the attractions will be a chance to see the department’s special fire safety house used for teaching residents about fire safety, plus the aerial ladder truck will be on display.

The open house also is a chance to meet the City of Wilmington’s firefighters and EMTs — first responders — and there will be tours of the fire station and informative handouts for the kids.
