WASHINGTON C.H. — A Washington C.H. man was charged with assaulting an officer Sunday after he allegedly kicked a patrolman in the chest while emergency personnel tried to treat the suspect at the Fayette County Memorial Hospital emergency room.

William Anthony Wilson, 30, of 1628 Washington Ave., had been arrested earlier Sunday on drug paraphernalia-related charges and was incarcerated at the Fayette County Jail. According to reports, Wilson was taken to the emergency room due to “symptoms of suspected methamphetamine usage.”

Once at the emergency room, Wilson was reportedly belligerent and non-compliant to the medical staff attempting to assist him. Patrolman Jeffery Heinz from the Washington Police Department and deputies from the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office were called in to help restrain Wilson.

As officers and medical staff tried to get him onto the bed, Wilson allegedly began to violently fight Heinz and the deputies. He allegedly used both his legs to kick Heinz in the chest.

Nurses were eventually able to administer medication to Wilson in order to calm him down, reports said. He was restrained until he ceased his behavior.

Wilson was charged with felonious assault on an officer. He is being held in the Fayette County Jail on a $15,500 bond.
