The Wilmington Lions Club president presented letters and Lions Service Milestone Award chevrons to five club members at the Monday, Nov. 20 meeting.
The Lions recognize service starting with 10 years and every additional fifth year thereafter.
Also, the club welcomed a new club member which now results in a total of 70 Wilmington Lions.
The club recently experienced the loss of member Franklin Wall, who passed away on Nov. 10. He will be remembered and greatly missed.
The Wilmington Lions were visited by the Angels Awaiting Maternity Home organization staff. They spoke about their mission to provide a homeless, single, pregnant woman a safe shelter for her pregnancy.
The time before and after the birth of the child is not to exceed 12 months. This time would be spent to prepare the expectant mother for her future, learning parenting skills, educational training for a job, meal preparation, and budgeting and control of finances.
The resident would have to assume some responsibilities and live under house rules as a condition of the assistance she receives.
The Wilmington Lions made a $300 donation at the meeting.
