Wilmington, Blanchester restaurants inspected

WILMINGTON — The following information is obtained from the Clinton County Health Department and is compiled from inspection reports.

Violations are either critical or non-critical. Critical violations are more likely to contribute to food contamination, illness or an environmental health hazard, including inadequate cooking of food items or poor personal hygiene.

The following restaurants or food service establishments were inspected recently:

New China Dragon, 103 E. Main St., Blanchester, October 1, standard. Containers of raw beef and chicken stored above vegetables. Duct tape used to repair box freezer. Light bulbs not working in ceiling fixtures. Floor tile damaged. Spray bottle with cleaner missing label.

Gator, 203 S. Wright St., Blanchester, October 1, standard. No violations noted.

Angelina’s Pizza, 653 W. Main St., Blanchester, October 5, standard. No violations noted.

Spanky’s / Blanchester Theatre, 115 E. Main St., Blanchester, October 5, standard. Container of bulk sugar missing label. Work tables and shelves storing food are flush with floor rather than at least six inches off of the ground. Stored chicken wings above safe temperatures. Hot chicken below safe temperatures. Thermometer missing. Light not working in vent hood or in chicken warmer. Chicken juice and accumulation in reach-in cooler. Chicken pieces and accumulation under prep table cooler’s lid. Prep sink missing air gap. Grease and chicken debris under fryers. Drywall missing paint above urinal in men’s restroom.

Subway, 2825 State Route 73 South, Wilmington, October 6, standard. Seal on sandwich make lines loose/damaged. Residues on floor near soda bag-in-box storage. Cove tile trim broken near doorway of prep/storage shelving. Probe thermometer unavailable. Light not working above microwave counter.

Speedway, 393 Locust St., Wilmington, October 6, standard. Light not working in walk-in cooler.

Wilmington Veteran Post, 140 E. Locust St., Wilmington, October 6, standard. Appropriate probe thermometer unavailable.

United Dairy Farmers, 395 E. Main St., Wilmington, October 7, standard. Ice cream scoops in dipper wells didn’t have running water (water runs on a timer). Soft-serve frozen yogurt machine cleaned every 48 hours rather than every 24 hours.
