Community MLK Day program rescheduled for Feb. 1

WILMINGTON — Snow falling on MLK Day merely delayed this year’s annual community program honoring the life and legacy of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., as a rescheduled event will be held Thursday, Feb. 1 at 4:15 p.m. in the McCoy Room of Wilmington College’s Kelly Center.

The public is welcome to attend.

Event coordinator Chip Murdock, director of diversity and inclusion at WC, noted that, while “challenging logistics” prevent the College from replicating the original program plan with all its music, dance and reflective components, “the spirit of the event will remain uncompromised” with a scaled down activity.

Also, the donation drive in support of Faith Mission Homeless Shelter in Columbus will be extended through the day of the MLK program. Community members are encouraged to join the campus community in bringing men’s and women’s socks, T-shirts and other personal items to the program.

Also, a collection box is located outside Murdock’s office on the main floor of Pyle Student Center.
