WILMINGTON — Drugs and money were seized during a drug search at the Hampton Inn on Holiday Drive over the weekend, police said.

According to Wilmington Police Chief Duane Weyand, at 2 a.m. on Saturday the SWAT team executed a drug search warrant at the hotel on a suspected drug dealer after a three-month drug investigation.

“Our detectives have been engaged in buys, surveillance, and case preparation as we look to indict several people for drug offenses,” said Weyand. “The hotel room that was rented by a Dayton subject was the hangout for a major offender who was responsible for a considerable quantity of methamphetamines.”

The search resulted in cash, suspected methamphetamines, a fake gun, and other drug-related paraphernalia being seized by authorities, he said.

“All items seized were sent to the lab for analysis. Upon receiving all lab reports back, we anticipate indicting several on drug cases,” said Weyand.

No suspects have been arrested at this time.
