WILMINGTON – The staff of U.S. Rep. Steve Stivers (R-OH) will be hosting office hours to assist constituents in signing up for a “My Social Security” account. Sign-ups are by appointment Tuesday, April 10; call 937-283-7049 for an appointment, to be held at Stivers’ Wilmington District Office, 69 N. South St., second floor.

Members of Stivers’ staff will be on hand to guide individuals through the process of registering for an online account. Using software installed on the office computers, the process will take minutes. Staff members will be able to troubleshoot any issues that arise.

In an effort to combat fraud, the “My Social Security” system will request identification verification in several manners. Constituents are advised that an email address and cell phone number will be required, and they should also be prepared to confirm information about their mortgage and vehicle history (the SSA will draw information from both the Credit Bureau and the Bureau of Motor Vehicles).

“My Social Security” accounts provide online access for Social Security recipients, allowing them to easily access their statements to check earnings and get benefit estimates, make changes to their contact information, set up direct deposits, request replacement Medicare cards, and more.
