Wilmington police charge man with alleged meth making

WILMINGTON — Wilmington police charged Matt Murphy, 31, of Wilmington, with allegedly manufacturing methamphetamines, a felony of the first degree, as well as alleged illegal assembly of methamphetamines, a second-degree felony.

Wilmington Police Chief Duane Weyand, in a media release, said the arrest was aided by citizens who complained of suspicious activity and drug activity at 444 N. Spring St., Murphy’s address.

“We can’t thank those enough that are willing to aid our department by calling in drug activity,” Weyand said. “If you see suspicious activity or drug related activity please call 382-TIPS.”

Murphy is listed as an active inmate of the Clinton County Jail.

Also, in Clinton County, deputies received reports of the following crimes:

• A man allegedly assaulted an actor on Halloween at the Haunted Hollow on Dalton Road near Wilmington.

• A Chester Township woman told deputies Oct. 29 that her child’s grandmother assaulted her.

• On Oct. 30, a construction company supervisor reported that one of his employees stole from a Jefferson Township barn.

• A Blanchester woman reported Sunday that her boyfriend assaulted her with a can of soda while he was driving.
