Banner walk set for Blanchester

Blanchester American Legion Auxiliary Unit 179 will be having its First Annual Banner Walk to honor our military heroes, on Thursday, July 2, beginning at 6 p.m.

Participants are encouraged to park at Blanchester High School and the walk will begin at Kroger and continue west on Cherry Street, down Main Street to the IOOF Cemetery, where participants will cross Main Street and then return back up to the other side of Main Street, stopping at the Blanchester Municipal Building where there will be light refreshments served. There will also be shuttle transportation (as needed), provided by The Laurels of Blanchester.

The walk is estimated to return to the municipal building around 7:45 p.m. No rain date is currently scheduled at this time. For updates, check the Facebook page of the Blanchester American Legion Auxiliary Marion Unit 179. For additional information, call Tina Fischer at 513-315-1236.

Harvest of Gold summer reading set

The Harvest of Gold summer reading program will be July 6-30. Sessions will be 110 a.m.-noon Monday-Thursday for students entering kindergarten-fifth grade. Sessions will be held at 243 Grant St., Wilmington.

Harvest of Gold requests that parents take their child to Wilmington Middle School each day after the session for a nutritional lunch.

Theme for the summer is “Every Hero has a Story”; please register your child to continue summer reading with tutors in place to assist. Each student who reads 12 books and writes four short stories about the books read will received a special gift and certificate at the end of the sessions. The summer will end with a cookout and games.

ECHS Class of ‘80 reunion slated

The East Clinton High School Class of 1980’s 35-year reunion will be Saturday, July 11 from 4 p.m. to midnight at McCoy’s Party Barn, 1130 Gurneyville Road, Wilmington. It features a full buffet and BYOB. Cost is $15 per person. Please make reservations by July 6 with checks payable to Linda Achor, P.O. Box 166, Wilmington, OH 45177.
