CMH, Performance Orthopaedics welcome new surgeon

WILMINGTON — CMH Regional Health System and Wilmington Physicians Group have welcomed full-time orthopaedic surgeon, Dr. Kenneth Vawter, to their Wilmington practice, Performance Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine.

Dr. Vawter received his Doctor of Medicine degree from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland. He completed a general surgery internship and his orthopedic surgery residency at Wilford Hall Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas (now known as San Antonio Military Medical Consortium).

Dr. Vawter served as a Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Air Force and General Orthopedic Surgeon at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, providing care for active-duty service members, dependents, and retirees since 2012.

Dr. Vawter provides comprehensive orthopedic care in fracture management, joint replacement, minimally invasive arthroscopy procedures, and a vast array of soft tissue procedures. He is certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, and is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, a fellow of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, and a member of the Society of Military Orthopedic Surgeons. expressed excitement for Dr. Vawter’s arrival at CMH.

He brings a lot to our orthopaedic practice and surgery team, and we’re proud to have him join the CMH family.”

CMH will be welcoming Dr. Vawter with a community open house and ribbon-cutting 1-3 p.m. Tuesday, July 10 in collaboration with the Wilmington-Clinton County Chamber of Commerce. There will be light refreshments available throughout. All are welcome.
