The Health Alliance of Clinton County held its quarterly meeting at McCoy’s Banquet Center on the evening of July 31.

President Kathleen Havey welcomed 27 members and guests. HACC Secretary Mary Camp led the invocation which was followed by a delicious buffet dinner.

Following dinner, President Havey introduced Jermaine Isaac, Director of Wilmington Parks and Recreation, and Dauna Armstrong, President of the Wilmington Parks and Recreation Board. The HACC presented a check for $2,500.00, proceeds from the April Fools 5K, to them for renovation of the castle playground.

The speaker for the evening was Phil Floyd, Volunteer Services Manager for Clinton Memorial Hospital.

Phil explained that there are volunteer opportunities available in many different areas of the hospital. Approximately 12,000 hours were logged in 2017 by 48 volunteers ranging in age from 16 to 98.

A brief business meeting followed the program. Revised by-laws were approved, the Scholarship Committee reported eight qualified candidates had applied, the Cancer Patient Assistance Program has served 29 patients thus far in 2018, and the Holiday Ball committees are hard at work.

Members are reminded of upcoming events; Collective Goods Book Sale Oct. 17, 18 and 19; and the next General Membership Meeting on Oct. 23. All dates and events can be found at healthallianceclinton.org.
