NEW VIENNA — The Wilmington and Blanchester Chapters of Modern Woodmen of America teamed up to do a service project to assist the Circle Drive HOA, a newly acquired park in the New Vienna Community.

The project included the purchase and installation of a lighted American flag and the construction and installation of a bench dedicated to the memory of one of its very special Circle Drive residents and Modern Woodmen member, Chris Towner.

The bench was designed and constructed by Circle Drive resident Jeremy Huff.

On July 7 at the Circle, a picnic was enjoyed by many of the Circle Drive residents, including former resident Jonda Towner and her children and grandchildren.

Modern Woodmen District Agent Dan Mayo said, “It was a beautiful day and the ceremony and tribute to Chris was a complete surprise to Jonda. The Circle Drive residents surrounded the family with love and participated by bringing food for the lunch.

“Chris is missed by all of us and we are proud to honor his legacy as a valued friend and community leader. Chris served as Mayor of New Vienna for a number of years and did a great job helping to better the community in that role. He exemplified the Modern Woodmen values of community service and good family values.”

Founded in 1883 as a fraternal benefit society, Modern Woodmen of America offers financial services and fraternal member benefits to individuals and families throughout the United States. For more information about Modern Woodmen and its services, call Mayo at 937 725-0445.
