WILMINGTON – Overnight road construction at the intersection of Xenia Avenue (US 68) and Lorish Avenue (SR 134) will begin at 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 26, according to the City of Wilmington.

The road construction is scheduled for Sunday and Monday between 6 p.m. and 9 a.m. During the construction, traffic will be reduced to a single lane and traffic control measures will be in place.

The road construction is due to gas line repair work being performed by contractors working for Vectren as part of the Bare Steel/Cast Iron Gas Line Replacement Project.

In addition to the overnight work, there will also be some road construction work during the day at this intersection throughout the week of Aug. 26-31. All trucks are encouraged to utilize the SR 73/Wilmington Bypass to travel through the City during this week.

The City of Wilmington asks that all motorists be patient, reduce speed, and exercise added caution when traveling near this work zone. Questions regarding the closure may be made to the Office of the Director of Public Service at 937-382‑6509.
