Blanchester Police arrested a woman Saturday and charged her with Criminal Trespass, a misdemeanor offense.

On Saturday afternoon, police were called to the 800 block of Old South Broadway Street regarding a suspicious woman. The caller said the woman came from the woods behind her home, entered her back yard taunting her animals, was yelling, walked to the front yard and then down the street, according to BPD Chief Scott Reinbolt.

The responding officer found the woman, Melissa Trace, 42 — with a most recent address the Clinton County Jail — at Veterans Memorial Park on South Broadway Street. According to police, Trace was covered in mud and leaves; she said she had been participating in Army training in the woods near the park, and that she had been in the woman’s yard, as she intended to purchase the home and level it as part of an FBI investigation.

The officer believed Trace, who has a lengthy criminal record, to be under the influence of some sort of narcotic and placed her under arrest, Reinbolt said.

She was incarcerated in the Clinton County Jail and will answer the charge in Clinton County Municipal Court.
