WILMINGTON — The Wilmington Garden Club met Monday, Sept. 9 at the Cowan Lake Sailing Association Clubhouse.

Hostesses Donna Tronerud, Maggie Vance and Polly Countryman served refreshments before a brief business meeting, led by outgoing President Maggie Vance. Maggie thanked the members for being supportive during the past year, and she presented each officer with a gift.

Terri Thobaben conducted the installation of officers using butterflies as the theme. The officers for the 2018-2019 year are: Cindy Green, President; Mary Thatcher, Vice President; Maggie Vance, Second Vice President, Angie Monroe, Secretary; Ann Carr, Assistant Secretary; Polly Countryman, Treasurer; and Jennilou Grotevant, Assistant Treasurer.

The new program books were handed out and it looks like the upcoming year has much to offer.

The annual Christmas Luncheon and Flower Show will be in December at the Denver Hotel. On May 4 the annual plant sale will be at the Wilmington Historical Society, and the Flower Show is June 26 at the Wilmington United Methodist Church.

Most regular meetings are held at Cape May Campus Center. Programs will cover a number of topics including garden therapy, garden tool maintenance, hummingbirds, native plants and hostas.

Garden tours, design workshops and more will provide many opportunities for members and guests to learn and enjoy all that Mother Nature has to offer.

If you are interested in attending a meeting or possibly joining the Wilmington Garden Club, call Carol at 937-383-1792 or message us on our Wilmington Ohio Garden Club Facebook page.
