WILMINGTON — The world is in big trouble as a giant, man-eating plant is about to wreak global destruction when Wilmington College Theatre presents the musical “Little Shop of Horrors” Nov. 15, 16 and 17 at 7:30 p.m. in Hugh G. Heiland Theatre.

The hit Broadway musical finds the meek, floral assistant, Seymour Krelborn, stumbling across a new breed of plant he names Audrey II, after his co-worker crush. The big-mouthed, R&B singing carnivore promises unending fame and fortune to the down-and-out Krelborn as long as he keeps feeding it — blood.

J. Wynn Alexander is directing and providing set design for Little Shop of Horrors.

The cast features: Joshua Woodward as Seymour, Keni Brown as Audrey, Wilmington community member Tim Brausch as Mushnik and Layne Frederick as Orin. The Doo Waps are Brittany Barnett, Kyla Cummins, Jessica Fair, Nina Roberts, Cheyann McKee and Maya Wahrhaftig, with Gage Clemens, Jalen Douglas, Shelbie Harris and Kendra Nelson portraying the derelicts and customers.

Also, Jadrien Douglas, Riley Gatlin and Sam Stanley play the derelicts and plant wranglers.

Shelby Dodds provides the voice for the monster, Audrey II, and Nic Keller is the Audrey II puppeteer.

In addition to Alexander, the direction staff includes Becky Haines, lighting and sound design; Gary Smith, assistant technical director; Cole Haugh, choreographer; and Timothy Larrick, musical director.

Howard Ashman and Alan Menken created Little Shop of Horrors, in addition to such other hit shows as Disney’s The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin.

Reservations can be made by contacting the Theatre Box Office weekdays, from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. at 937-481-2267
