The art of haunting

Emory Hollbrook, 7, made a clay and papier-mâché mask for one of his Halloween-themed art projects as a student at Thorngren Studio Arts in downtown Wilmington. For the mask, he also utilized pill bottle caps (a family member works at a pharmacy). Emory used a metal detector at his grandmother’s property in search of items to use for re-purposed pieces of art. He stands alongside his art teacher Mary Beth Thorngren during Monday evening’s art gallery show with a haunted Halloween theme where costumes were encouraged.

The wide, toothy grin of this cat suggests it may be something other than friendly toward what it’s looking at. The acrylic painting is by Jan Soares, and was on display Monday at the Thorngren Studio Arts gallery show with a haunted Halloween theme.

Chuck and Jeanette Fuller attended an art gallery show with a Halloween theme Monday in downtown Wilmington.
