WILMINGTON — Wilmington police have the suspect in custody in a shooting in the early morning Tuesday.

Officers were dispatched to a disturbance involving a shooting and found a victim who was shot twice — once in the leg and once in the abdomen, according to Police Chief Duane Weyand.

The victim was transported via medical helicopter to a hospital.

The suspect is Leon Curtis, 37, of Wilmington.

He “fled the scene shortly afterwards,” said Weyand. “He is currently wanted from Ohio Adult Parole and we have charges on him stemming from the shooting.

“Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Curtis is encouraged to call 911.“

We will update this story as more details are available.
