Clinton County Veterans Day program details set

WILMINGTON — The schedule has been released for the 2018 Veterans Day event to be held Sunday morning at the Clinton County Veterans Memorial.

At 10 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 11, music will begin to play at the memorial on the northeast corner of Courthouse Square in Wilmington. The ceremony itself will begin at 10:30 a.m. with a welcome from Leslie Rose of the Clinton County Veterans Service Commission (CCVSC).

About 10:32 a.m., American Legion Post 49 Auxiliary Chaplain Cindy Butler will give an invocation. At 10:35 a.m., the Pledge of Allegiance will be held, followed by the singing of the “Star-Spangled Banner” by Adrienne Ahlers.

Then at about 10:40 a.m., guest speaker SFC (Retired) Angela Beltz will deliver remarks. She is the chairperson of the Ohio Women Veterans Advisory Committee.

At around 10:53 a.m., a roll call will be held to announce the identities of the service men and women who are now being remembered at the Veterans Memorial with newly installed pavers engraved with their names. Blaire Brown will present the roll call.

At 10:55 a.m., VFW Auxiliary Chaplain Theresa Shoemaker will give a benediction. Then, at 10:58 a.m., Leslie Rose of the local Veterans Service Commission will return to close the ceremony, followed by the playing of “Taps” and the American Legion Honor Guard according honors.
