Blan FFA meets, forwards challenge

BLANCHESTER — The Blanchester FFA chapter held a chapter meeting on Nov. 7.

Prior to the meeting, the Blanchester officer team participated in the 10 Gallon Milk Challenge. We donated 10 gallons of milk to our local community help center, The Exchange.

The 10 Gallon Challenge is aimed to create awareness and support of local dairy farmers who may be struggling with low milk prices. The officers made a video as part of the challenge that is posted on the Blanchester FFA’s Facebook page.

The Blanchester FFA was nominated to participate in the challenge by the Wilmington FFA officer team, and passed the challenge on to the Warren County Junior Fair Board, Urbana FFA, Animals Express 4-H Club and the National FFA Officer Team.

Upon delivering the 10 gallons of milk to The Exchange, the officer team received a tour of their facilities and learned more about their ministry and support given to families and individuals in need.

Then at 6:30 p.m., with the tap of the gavel, our monthly chapter meeting began with 17 members present.

We encourage all members of the chapter to come out to the monthly chapter meeting on the first Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. in Mr. Heeg’s room.

We began with officer and committee reports. The motion to have a blood drive on Nov. 12 passed. Forms are available to donate blood in Mr. Heeg’s and Ms. Steiner’s rooms. We also moved and passed to form a blood drive committee.

Lastly, we moved and passed to start Glenn Thompson Food Drive on Dec. 7. The post-meeting activity was to make birdhouses out of bottleneck gourds to be donated to elderly residents.

“The meeting was fun. My favorite part was watching the 10 gallon milk challenge video.,” said MaKenna Maddix.
