The East Clinton FFA recently held its annual Veterans Day assembly to honor veterans and thank them for their service. The Nov. 12 assembly was run by the East Clinton FFA and several other organizations at the high school.

Veterans were offered a breakfast the morning of the assembly. The officers of the clubs spoke at the assembly and happily welcomed a guest speaker, Keith Wightman, and a special guest, Bob Estle, a World War II veteran.

Wilmington American Legion Post 49 posted the colors. Also presented was the poem, “Thank You for Your Service”, the meaning of the 13 folds of the American flag, a poem about the flag, and the history of Veterans Day.

The East Clinton Wind Ensemble and Choir sang and played music for the veterans.

We would all like to thank our veterans for attending and for their service to our country.

The East Clinton FFA also recently held their annual Greenhand and Chapter degree banquet on Nov. 16 at East Clinton High School. The degree night was part of a Thanksgiving dinner provided for the entire FFA chapter from several parents of FFA members.

Members and guests were able to see what the past FFA events the chapter has participated in and what some of the upcoming events are in the chapter.

They also heard a message from state officer at-large Tyler Zimpfer and listened to the creed recited by Mitchell Bean, Jenna Stanley, Katie Carey, Regan Walker, Carah Anteck and Lydia Kessler. Maggie Mathews also delivered a speech on the Dairy Industry.

Thirty-one recipients received their Greenhand Degree, while 28 received their Chapter FFA Degree.

The chapter would like to thank all the parents who made food and helped with the event.
