Homemade Christmas, Lego Robotics at library

Homemade Christmas at the Wilmington Public Library will be 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12. During that time children are welcome to make homemade gifts for their family and friends. The library will provide the supplies and wrapping paper.

On Monday, Jan. 4 from 6-7 p.m. is the new Lego Robotics Program at the Wilmington Public Library for teens and tweens featuring Lego Mindstorm Robotics and Lego Minecraft.

Diabetes nutrition class scheduled

A Diabetes Nutrition Class Series will be held at the Wilmington Public Library Jan. 13, 20 and 27 from noon to 2:30 p.m. Laura Knisley of the Clinton County Health Department, a Registered Dietitian/Registered Nurse and Certified Diabetes Educator, will present this three-week series to learn about blood sugar monitoring, carb counting and heart health along with grocery shopping, eating out basics and more.

Classes are free; no referral is needed, but registration is required by calling 937-382-7221, ext. 114. This program is funded by Health First for Clinton County.

Need help with home heating bills?

Home Energy Assistance Program’s 2015-16 Winter Crisis Program is operating until March 31, 2016. To receive assistance the household must be at or below 175 percent of the Federal Poverty guidelines as follows: Household Size & 12 Month Income, 1- $20,597.50, 2- $27,877.50, 3- $35,157.50, 4- $42,437.50, 5- $49,717.50, 6- $56,997.50. The applicant must also have a disconnect notice or have 25 percent or less of bulk fuel.

Applicants will need to bring: Proof of household income for the past three months or 12 months, social security numbers for all household members, Identification, and heating/electric bills. Treasurer’s office closes early Tuesday

The Clinton County Treasurer’s office will close Tuesday, Dec. 8 at 3:30 p.m. so the staff “can enjoy some Christmas cheer,” according to Treasurer Jason Walt. Please have pay-ins to the office no later than 2:45 p.m., and use of the mail machine will end at 3:25 p.m.

Deadline approaches for scholarships

Each year, The Antique Power Club of Clinton County, Inc. hopes to award five scholarships — one each to a graduate of East Clinton, Clinton-Massie, Wilmington and Blanchester high schools, and the fifth to be given to an eligible Antique Power Club member, member’s spouse, child or grandchild who has graduated from a high school outside of Clinton County.

Requirements for the scholarship also include: 1. Available to any second year, full-time college or technical school student (2015-16); 2. Applicants must be currently enrolled in a four-year college or two-year Technical School; 3. Applications must be postmarked no later than Dec.31, 2015. Shower Mr. Walker with birthday cards

A birthday card shower has been requested for Wayne Walker, whose birthday is Dec. 14. He is at Wilmington Nursing & Rehabilitation Center at 75 Hale Street, Wilmington. Cards would be very welcomed for Mr. Walker.
