WILMINGTON — Carrie Zeigler spoke to the Wilmington Rotary Club which meets at noon on Mondays at Damon’s restaurant about the non-profit Sleep in Heavenly Peace.

After a local chapter of the organization spoke to the club recently, Carrie talked her husband, Doug, into helping start the Clinton County Chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace. The new Clinton Chapter is the seventh to be established in Ohio.

Sleep in Heavenly Peace is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization; its motto is “No Kid Sleeps on the Floor in Our Town.”

The group builds beds for children who have no bed. The beds come fully fitted with a mattress and all the bedding. On average, a fully equipped bunk bed costs $350.

Carrie said that the chapter has raised the start-up funds needed to by the equipment and tools required for a build. She does not yet know the need numbers in Clinton County, but the 2019 goal for the chapter is 100 bunk beds.

That translates to beds for 200 children and $35,000 needed for the various builds. Carrie hopes to do an early February training build and the first group build would be in late February.
