Blan library patrons floored by carpet

The interior of the Blanchester Public Library has received a much-needed floor makeover, according to Director Chris Owens.

“We were closed the week of Thanksgiving for the project,” said Owens. “We also had some asbestos tile removed that was under the carpet in the original part of the library. We replaced the carpet in all the public areas of the library except the children’s area, which is going to be done in a few months when we remodel that space with new shelving and a reconfigured storytime area.

Owens said the carpet that was replaced was 18 years old and very worn. It also was pulling up in several places, causing a potential tripping hazard. The new carpet tile was installed by Weiffenbach Marble & Tile Co. in Clayton, Ohio.

“We already have received numerous compliments from patrons on how nice the carpet looks and how much lighter it makes the library appear,” Owens said. “And the color and pattern match well with the tables, chairs and shelving we have purchased in the past few years.

“We are working hard to provide a very pleasant space and welcoming atmosphere for our patrons, besides offering them all the resources we do.”
