WILMINGTON — There is less than a month to apply for funds available in the Charles F. Fischer Fund.

Local organizations that serve children can apply for the dollars.

Known in the community as the pianist who accompanied silent movies at The Murphy Theatre from when it opened 101 years ago until the talkies appeared, Charles “Charlie” F. Fischer, a lifelong bachelor, left most of his estate in trust to the children of Clinton County.

Income from the trust is administered through the Clinton County Commissioners Office. The grant money that’s administered through the commissioners office can go toward things for children such as improvement of educational opportunities, and may be used for books, or instruction in music, dancing, painting, sculpting and other arts.

Interested organizations can mail or drop off a letter at the county commissioners office on the second floor of the Clinton County Courthouse. The letter should describe the children’s programming that would be the recipient of the funds if awarded to that particular organization, and also mention the benefits of the program.

The letter requesting funds must be in the commissioners office by 4 p.m. Monday, April 15. The address is: Clinton County Board of Commissioners, 46 S. South Street, 2nd Floor, Wilmington, OH 45177.
