WILMINGTON — Air Transport Services Group, Inc., which is based in Wilmington, announced Thursday the retirement of Dennis Manibusan, President of Air Transport International, Inc., an airline subsidiary of ATSG, and the appointment of his replacement, James O’ Grady, effective Jan. 9.

Manibusan leaves a 45-year career in aviation, including 25 years in the U.S. Air Force, Air National Guard and the Air Force Reserve, achieving the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. After the military he held leadership roles at Ozark Airlines, Alaska Airlines, Continental Airlines, ABX Air, Hawaiian Airlines, and Capital Cargo International Airlines prior to becoming President of ATI in 2012.

“Dennis has served the company well, having steered our airlines safely through some turbulent times,” said Joe Hete, President and Chief Executive Officer of ATSG. “We’ll miss him, but we wish him the very best in retirement. ATI will be in good hands with Jim, who knows every facet of our airline operations.”

O’Grady previously held the title of Chief Operating Officer for ATI. Prior to that role, he served in management positions in other subsidiaries of ATSG, including Managing Director of Global Flight Support, a subsidiary of Airborne Global Solutions. He joined subsidiary ABX Air in 1983. O’Grady holds bachelors and masters degrees in Aeronautical Science from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. He is an FAA-licensed Commercial Pilot with Instrument, Single, and Multi-Engine Ratings, and is a licensed Aircraft Dispatcher.

With three decades and thousands of hours of cargo and “combi” passenger aircraft operations experience, ATI has the expertise to respond to emergency one-time charters as well as long-term scheduled programs.
