VBS instructs on ‘fruits of Spirit’

WILMINGTON — The Presbyterian Church of Wilmington recently completed a week of VBS lessons and activities based on the theme “DoG, Depend on God”.

The “fruits of the Spirit” were introduced — love, joy, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. The children participated in daily Bible stories, games, music, crafts and special activities to learn about those eight “spiritual fruits” or personal qualities.

A family picnic on Friday evening included a blessing of animals. Special guests sharing their expertise and relating the named traits in their work with dogs included: Diane Henderson, Dave Ackerman, Emma Hayes, Dr. Jackie Gano, Dr. Bob Gano and Pastor Debbie Linville.

The Presbyterian Church of Wilmington, led by Pastor Deborah Linville, welcomes all children and adults to a weekly Sunday morning worship at 10 a.m.

A two-day and three-day preschool is also available for 3-, 4-, and 5-year-olds during the week.
