Thanks for Honor Flight support

On behalf of the volunteers from the Noon and A.M. Rotary Clubs and the veteran volunteers from Wilmington American Legion Post 49, I would like to thank everyone who stopped by the Clinton County Honor Flight tent at the Banana Split Festival. The festival is always special for me, but this year, being in the Honor Flight booth and hearing the kind words of support expressed by so many of our visitors, made this year extra special.

The veterans that picked up applications were thanking the volunteers, but I have to say, it is this community and the spirit of patriotism within our citizenry that is making Clinton County Honor Flight possible. This once-in-a-lifetime experience for our veterans will only become a reality through the generosity of people like those that stopped by our booth and made a donation this past weekend.

Thanks to the personal and corporate donations received to date, we are well on the way to our goal of sponsoring 75 Clinton County WWII, Korean War and Vietnam War veterans. The donations received at the festival alone will sponsor seven veterans.

A mere thank you seems inadequate. The people with whom I had the privilege speaking with this weekend, made me feel humbled, yet proud to say: “I live and work in Clinton County.”
