The recent letter to the editor “Pro-empathy voters: Vote Democrat” had a lot of false statements.

To present conservatives as cruel, intimidating white community. Perhaps some should look to the history of the Democratic Party after the Civil War, which identified itself as the “White Man’s Party” and demonized the Republican Party. Southern Democrats controlled the southern states until the 1960s and the Civil Rights Movement.

Conservatives ask: “What can I do for myself, my family, my community, and my fellow citizens?”

Progressives ask: “What is unfair?” “What am I owed?” “What has offended me today?” “What must my country do for me?”

Progressive won the Civil War? I don’t think any of the young men that gave their lives at Antietam or Gettysburg cared about progressives. Progressives burned and looted major cities in 2020 and most were not held accountable.

I know a lot of conservatives here in Clinton County and in Ohio. I have never heard of any conservatives forcing a woman to get pregnant. Bringing a child into the world is a decision that should be made by consenting adults. Democrats/Progressives want to kill babies with abortions. Conservatives want life for the unborn.

If you want to be proud of our country and the way it is governed, vote Republican. Don’t vote Democrat and be embarrassed every time our president goes overseas and speaks in public. Or when our he makes untrue comments about driving a truck, that he was arrested as a youth protesting for civil rights, and that he had been in Iraq and Afghanistan over 40 times. All lies!
