The Clinton County Homeless Shelter sponsored its 18th Annual Spring Soup Lunch Fundraiser on Friday, March 17 at the Wilmington City Building Community Room. Delicious homemade soups were served to a record crowd of 174 guests.

The soup lunch, dating back to 1999, had a St. Patrick’s Day theme this year, adding to the festive environment. In addition to the soups and desserts, a raffle was held which always is an entertaining part of the event.

With many donated items from individuals and businesses in the community, $2,292.27 was raised at this year’s event. The proceeds will help the shelter to further its mission of helping to provide housing, food, supplies, counseling and direction to the clients it serves. This year thus far, the Shelter has served 57 adults and 15 children.

There are so many to thank for the success of the day, including the Wilmington News Journal which generously donated space in the paper to promote the event.

Save the date for our next soup luncheon that will be held on Nov. 17!
