Ohio Northern blanks WC women in OAC soccer

WILMINGTON, Ohio – Ohio Northern University scored one goal in each half of a 2-0 Ohio Athletic Conference victory Wednesday over the Wilmington College women’s soccer team at Townsend Field.

The Polar Bears opened the scoring in the 16th minute as Tara Morris fed a cross into the box that found the foot of Elizabeth Pierce who beat the Fightin’ Quakers’ goalkeeper Lauren Galloway.

The Fightin’ Quakers, held without a shot in the first half, took two in the second half. The Polar Bears repeated their first-half effort of 16 shots and also scored a goal, which came off the foot of Jill Roberts in the 60th minute.

Galloway made 14 saves and took the loss.

Wilmington (5-7-1, 2-2-0) continues OAC play at Marietta College 1 p.m. Saturday.
