WILMINGTON, Ohio — Simon Heys finished seventh Friday in the Ohio Athletic Conference Cross Country Championship men’s race on the WC course.
The placement earned the Wilmington High School graduate first team All-OAC honors.
WC hosted the conference championship races for the first time since 2012.
On the women’s side, Milena Wahl finished 16th and earned second team all-conference honors, a first for the WC women since 2014.
The women ran in mostly rainy conditions. As a team, WC finished seventh. John Carroll won the meet with Mount Union runnerup.
Savannah Rhodes (54th in 26:14.9) and Bella Stevens (62nd in 26:45.6) were next in line for Wilmington College.
Kolby Gluchowski was 87th in 28:41.6, AJ Houseman 91st in 29:01.7, Jordan Snarr 106th in 30:45.8, Molly Hafer 110th 31:58.3, Julia Bystrom 111th 32:10.4, Kaitlyn Rauch 112th 32:12.1, Taylor Cooper 113th 32:22.1, Morgan Fleischer 115th 34:12.2, Skye Carpenter 118th 35:12.0, Sadie Devore 120th 36:42.9.
Rhodes is a Blanchester High School graduate while Houseman graduated from Clinton-Massie. Like Heys, Carpenter graduated WHS.
The men’s race was contested in wet conditions but little rain.
The Quakers finished fourth as a team, the same placement as in 2012.
John Carroll won its first conference cross country championship with Otterbein second and Mount Union third.
Heys clocked 25:29.2 in the eight-kilometer race, despite running the middle portion of the race with only one shoe.
Noah Tobin placed 23rd in 26:17.4, earning second team honors.
George Rickett was 27th in 26:33.5, Eric Reynolds 43rd 27:03.6, Cohen Frost 49th 27:20.0, Tyler Parks 56th 27:34.7, Josh Cyrus 61st 27:40.4, Hunter Morgan 82nd 28:19.1, Aidan Henson 107th 29:01, Austin Wampler 122nd 29:38.5, Gage Clemens 126th 29:51.7, Blake Haines 137th 30:25.2 and Evan Brandon 164th 33:14.
Parks is a WHS grad and Henson graduated from East Clinton High School.
The Quakers will head to Shelbyville, Ind. on Nov. 13 for the Great Lakes Regional meet.
