Hurricane 4th grade football wins WOJFC championship

For the second time in their careers, the Wilmington fourth grade football team won the championship game in the Western Ohio Junior Football Conference tournament.

The Wilmington third grade football team lost to Springboro by six points in the championship game Sunday at Kettering’s Roush Stadium. Wilmington, 8-2 on the year, was coached by Mark Harpen, Aaron Accoo and Luke Harris. The team mom is Katie Harpen.

The team consists of Bensen Harpen, Braxton Rollins, Zane Harris, Jaxon Klontz, Weston Greene, Brintley Rayson, Jose Kirk, Rahlyn Goings, Jordan Ross, JuLani Curtis, Jamion Wilson, Foster Birt, Talon Pasko, Noah Ruddle and Carson Hornschmeier.

Third grade cheerleaders are Annika Shaeffer, Hope Powell, Madilyn Puckett, Mackenzie Reed, Madison Scarberry, Coli Olaker, Macey Joy Mann, Peyton Harris, Victoria Maples, Della Smith and Kaylynn Hayslip.

The fourth grade Hurricane defeated Springfield for the title on Sunday in Kettering. Springfield handed Wilmington its only loss during the regular season, 28-18.

The fourth grade squad also won the WOJFC tournament championship game in 2019.

The coaches are Mario Stewart and Phil Soales. Ashley Howard is the team mom.

Team members are Aiden Ashcraft, Khaleeq Andrews, Yalaina Medley, Braxton Reed, Titan Craycraft, Malique Nance, Angel Kirk, Braxton Pierce, Braxton Reveal, Cohner Friend, Jaron Keplinger, Tyler Shaw and Benjamin Bechard.

Cheerleaders are Averie Kibbey, Brooklyn Warnock, Julianna Tuller, Zoella Shoemaker, McKenna Marconet, Brooklyn Carr, Avery Pfister, Sophie Swick, Kathryn Villa, Sophie Roe, Olivia Seiler, Brielle Taylor and Saleena Price. Cheer coaches are Ashley Kibbey, Yolanda Curtis and Jennifer Cook.
