Blanchester went 5-18 last season in Bradon Pyle’s final season as head coach. Pete Jackson takes over as head coach this season.
Jackson’s coaching staff includes Bob Reveal as the reserve coach, Jamie Grogg as the eighth grade coach and Bella Cook as seventh grade coach.
The Ladycats lost Lana Roy (6.6 ppg, 4.7 reb, 3.7 ast, 2.7 stls), Madison Wells and Maddie Pohlman from that team as graduates. Roy was first team All-SBAAC.
Olivia Potts (9.3 ppg) was the top scorer for BHS and was second team last year as a sophomore and Daelyn Staehling (7.3 ppg, 6.1 reb) was honorable mention as a junior.
In all, there are six seniors on the team, with Zoie Stanforth, Lacie Tedrick, Emma Winemiller, Jazmyn Ambrocio and Grace Irwin joining Staehling in that class. Juniors are Potts, Ainsley Whitaker, Madison Tipton and Destiny Blankenbeckler. There is one sophomore, Kaylee Coyle, and one freshman, Torie Potts, on the team.
“We have a very athletic team,” Jackson said. “I like how they get up and down the floor. They are positive in practice in cheering each other on. We are running a lot of man to man defense and they have improved a lot in just a few weeks. If we continue to improve defensively and limit turnovers I think we can compete for a league tittle.”
