Newkirk, Moorman lead wrestlers to third at Logan Elm

CIRCLEVILLE — Clinton-Massie finished third Saturday at the Logan Elm Invitational at the McDowell Middle School.

Miami Trace won the tournament with 257.5 points while Celina was next with 257. Massie had 219 points.

“I thought we wrestled well and had a solid tournament,” CM coach Spencer Running said. “I know we’re going to try and improve week by week and keep the ball rolling.”

Gatlin Newkirk was champion for the Falcons at 113 pounds, recording a 5-2 decision in the weight-class title match. Cole Moorman had a pin in 17 seconds in the final match to win the 126 pound weight class.

At 150 pounds, Braden Rolf was runnerup, dropping a narrow 6-5 decision to Grant Guiler of Amanda-Clearcreek. Another runnerup finish was recorded by Lane Schulz at 215 pounds.

Grant Moorman was third at 138 pounds. He earned the spot with a pin in 44 seconds in the consolation final.

Reuben Mobley was fourth a 165 pounds, Cody Lisle was fifth at 106 pounds and Elijah Groh was fifth at 190 pounds. Matt Martin placed sixth at 144 pounds.
