EC bowlers advance to finals in Chillicothe

CHILLICOTHE — The East Clinton boys and girls bowling teams both advanced to the final eight in the First Capital Baker Bash here Saturday.

The girls were fifth and he boys were eighth. Chillicothe was the girls champion while Hillsboro defeated Clinton-Massie for the boys title.

There were 14 boys teams in the tournament. The Astros had a slow start but steadily moved up to make the eight-team playoff round, edging Unioto by two pins.

In the playoffs, the Astros were matched against top-seed Hillsboro and were defeated.

There were 12 girls teams in EC’s division. East Clinton was in the top four most of the way during preliminary rounds. The Astros finished third.

In the playoff round, East Clinton was matched up with Zane Trace in a best of three baker match. East Clinton opened with a win but lost the next two matches.

“It was a great experience and I am proud of both the boys and girls wh0, for the first time, both teams made the cut to the baker playoffs, EC coach Joe Davis said.
