Falcons edge Hurricane at SBAAC JH wrestling tourney

NEW RICHMOND — Clinton-Massie was fourth and Wilmington fifth Saturday at the SBAAC Middle School Wrestling Championship at New Richmond High School.

The Falcons had 119 points while the Hurricane finished with 112.5. East Clinton finished seventh with 52 points. Blanchester did not send a team to the event.

Western Brown won the tournament with 144 points while New Richmond was second and Batavia third.

Clinton-Massie had two weight-class champions.

Connor Musser pinned Max McCoy of Wilmington in 2:36 to win at 92 pounds while Evan Jett edged Landen Collins of New Richmond 6-5 in the 104 title match.

Also for Massie, Dillon Mounce was second at 128, Jackson Doyle second at 134, Evan Schwartz second at 160 and Dakin Johnson second at 245. Gage Beatty was fourth at 110 pounds.

For Wilmington, there were four champions.

AJ Kirk pinned Levi Mason of Goshen in 1:27 at 80 pounds; Tristan Skinner pinned Gabe Gantzer of Western Brown in 35 seconds at 86 pounds; Josiah Puller pinned AJ Sturwold of Williamsburg in 39 seconds at 98 pounds; and Donavon Perdue pinned Ben Cline of East Clinton in 1:28 at 205 pounds.

In addition to McCoy’s runnerup, Wilmington had Remington Laursen finish third at 104 pounds.

For East Clinton, in addition to Cline at 205, Carson Jones was runnerup at 150, Landen Kaun was third at 98 and Hudson Singer was third at 142.
