LEESBURG — The East Clinton baseball team was defeated by Fairfield 3-0 Monday in the season opener.

Coach Joey Schulte said his Astros “could not capitalize with runners in scoring position.”

Isaiah Curtis pitched 3.2 strong innings and struck out four. He had a double at the plate. Schulte said both teams played well defensively.

East Clinton will play Dixie at Wright State University on Tuesday.
