WILMINGTON – The Wilmington College men’s lacrosse team fell behind early and lost 23-0 at Ohio Northern University in an Ohio Athletic Conference match Wednesday evening.

Ohio Northern won the initial faceoff and quickly got things rolling as John Lynn scored the first goal of the game less than a minute into the first quarter. The Polar Bears would score seven goals in the first quarter, and would go on to add nine more in the second quarter. Wilmington was unable to score a goal on two shots, and went into the half trailing 16-0.

The Quaker defense seemed to stabilize after the half and conceded just seven goals in the second half. Wilmington possessed the ball more in the second half and fired three shots on goal, but were ultimately unable to break through. ONU held distinct advantages in shots (69-5) and won all but two of the 27 face-offs in the game.

Up next, the Quakers (2-8) will travel to the University of Mount Union on Saturday to face the Purple Raiders 1 p.m.
