WILMINGTON — Austin Pagett had five goals, Damien Crawford posted a shutout and the Wilmington High School lacrosse team defeated Xenia 17-0 Wednesday night at Alumni Field.

“(This game) became a great night for all phases of our game,” WHS head coach Adam Shultz said. “Damien Crawford led the defense to its first shutout of the season and Logan camp was perfect from the face off X. Considering we only scored once in the first quarter, we improved our shot selection during the last three quarters. I was impressed that we could play physically, without playing so much man-down defense.”

Pagett had plenty of help on the offense end, as Cameron McEvoy had four goals and Eric Maus scored three times while assisting on one. Logan Camp had two goals and an assist.

Jude Martin had a goal and two assists while Jon Custis and Colin Wood had one goal each. Nino Gonzalez also assisted on a WHS goal.

The JV Hurricane was a 7-6 winner over Waynesville. Wood and Alex Rigling had two goals each. Eli Hibbs, Michael Streety and Gonzalez had one goal each.

The varsity is 2-3 on the year. The junior varsity is 1-2-1.

On Saturday, the varsity Hurricane will play at Madeira with a 3 p.m. start.
