LEXINGTON, Ky. — The 2021 Wilmington College volleyball team has earned the USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award, announced by the American Volleyball Coaches Association.

In order to achieve the USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award, teams must achieve a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or higher for the entire 2021-22 academic year. The Fightin’ Quakers had a 3.75 GPA as well as a department-high 3.635 GPA for the 2022 spring semester.

Additionally, five individuals — Cierra Bolender, Skylar Carmichael, Sydney Geibel, Macee Hamilton and Victoria Long — were named Academic All-OAC following the fall semester.

“I am incredibly proud of the work these young ladies put in this school year in the classroom and on the court,” head coach Sophie Windover said. “They have bright futures ahead of them with the work ethic and drive they possess.”

Wilmington’s 2022 season, Windover’s second as head coach, begins at the Mount St. Joseph University Sept. 2.
