SBAAC: Look ahead to Week 2, look back at Week 1

The SBAAC features nine games this week, with two crossover contests on the schedule.

Blanchester (0-1) will travel to Batavia (0-1) while Bethel-Tate (0-1) goes to New Richmond (1-0).

Other games include Miami Trace (0-1) at Wilmington (0-1), Clinton-Massie (0-1) at Edgewood (0-1) and East Clinton (1-0) at Cedarville (1-0).

The rest of the schedule is Hillsboro (0-1) at Goshen (0-1), Clermont Northeastern (1-0) at Miami Valley Christian (0-1), Western Brown (1-0) at Washington Senior (1-0) and St. Bernard (1-0) at Williamsburg (1-0).

All games are scheduled to kickoff 7 p.m. Friday night.

Here are some of the league highlights from non-Clinton County schools on opening weekend:

BATAVIA: No report on SBAAC website

BETHEL-TATE: Nolan Darnell was all over on defense, recording 11 tackles and two sacks for the Tigers.

CLERMONT NE: Jake Mott rushed for 128 yards and 2 TDs against Clark Montessori. Connor Yeager averaged 47 yards on six punts. Andrew McIntosh had 5 solo tackles, an interception and a fumble recovery.

GOSHEN: Gabe Cope ran for 187 yards and 1 touchdown. Craig McKinney had 13 tackles while Tyler Kilgore had two tackles for loss.

NEW RICHMOND: AJ Metzger passed for 175 yards and 2 TDs and Laurence Smith ran for 116 yards and 2 scores, while catching 7 balls for 71 yards and 2 touchdowns. Jack Moore was credited with 17 solo tackles (26 total!!).

WESTERN BROWN: Drew Novak passed the 10,000 yard career passing mark. He finished with 309 yards and 4 TDs. He rushed just twice for 39 yards so expect that to go up as games are tighter. As it was, Zach Chisman ran for 149 yards and 3 scores on 11 attempts. Matt Frye had a 5-113-1 receiving line while Matt Osborne posted 2-11-2. Quentin Collins had nine solo tackles among his 11 stops.

WILLIAMSBURG: No report on SBAAC website.

Here are some highlights on this week’s SBAAC opponents and their performances last week:

CEDARVILLE: Defeated Middletown Christian 28-12. Jackson Pyles had 213 yards and 3 touchdowns passing. Colt Coffey ran for 98 yards and a score. Jake Winter had 11 tackles.

EDGEWOOD: Lost 42-6 to Milford. Tavionne Crosby ran for 111 yards and a TD. In all, the Cougars had 149 yards on 34 rushes. Evan Swartz was in on 10 tackles.

HILLSBORO: Lost 55-0 to Western Brown. Drew Novak. See above. Nuff said.

MIAMI TRACE: Lost to Waverly 42-39. The Panthers led 39-28 in the fourth quarter. Trace started sophomore Trey Robinette (1 touchdown rushing, 2 passing) at quarterback and sophomore Evan Colegrove (2 touchdowns) at running back. After losing the lead in the final 2 minutes, Trace fumbled on offense and Waverly ran out the clock.

MIAMI VALLEY CHRISTIAN: Lost 42-16 to Grove City Christian. Ethan Hudnall ran for 141 yards and Ian Dooley ran for 100 yards. In all, MVC had 275 yards rushing. Ethan Hola had 19 tackles and Noah Kroger 18.

WASHINGTON: Defeated Bexley 35-6. Troy Thompson threw for more than 300 yards and 2 touchdowns while also scoring one time on the ground.

ST. BERNARD: Defeated Shroder 34-0. With 306 yards rushing on 29 attempts, the Titans were ground hogs. Greg Miller went 15-168-3 rushing. Demico Harris had 11 solo tackles, as well as 2.5 sacks among his 4 tackles for loss.
